Clinton started Ngurrangga Tours to educate and immerse people in the ways of his culture and history so that they could understand more about Pilbara Aboriginal culture and country.
Meaning ‘Out on Country’, Ngurrangga Tours operates out of Roebourne and Cossack and follows the song lines of Clinton’s ancestors. Operating with a minimum four guests and the ability to cater for large groups with a four-wheel drive bus on fleet, Ngurrangga Tours offers a range of half day and full day tours, overnight and short stay itineraries including camping in the bush and taking in some of the best places to see the wonders of the Milky Way.
Cultural awareness is important and visitors are able to experience and learn more about our ancient history. All tours with Ngurrangga Tours include a traditional ‘Welcome to Country’ and take you on journeys through the incredible Pilbara through the eyes of his Elders; this may be a guided tour through Murujuga National Park to view the highest concentration of rock art in the world, visiting sacred sites, spending the day exploring the Millstream-Chichester National Park learning the traditional stories about how the Warlu (Serpent) created Millstream or taking a journey into Gregory’s Gorge, the birthplace of Aboriginal culture.
Clinton is passionate about raising the profile of the Burrup Peninsula; located in Murujuga National Park. It is one of Australia’s most significant heritage sites and an important cultural place for Aboriginal people. The Burrup Peninsula is on the National Heritage register and is home to up to a million Aboriginal rock carvings, some dating back 40,000 years. Despite this, it is relatively unknown worldwide and even in Australia.
Clinton’s motivation has always been to show those travelling in the Pilbara, as well as residents, the beauty of the country and the richness of its culture. All tours are designed to be entertaining as well as educational. Where necessary he has conferred with Elders and Traditional Owners to ensure his tours are accurate and authentic.
