Below are some of the most commonly asked questions about our range of Aboriginal cultural tours in the Pilbara region.  All tours are designed to be entertaining as well as educational. Where necessary he has conferred with Elders and Traditional Owners to ensure his tours are accurate and authentic. Contact Ngurrangga Tours if you have a specific question that has not been answered here.

How many people will be on the tour?

We will take a minimum of two passengers but can cater for 20 or more.  

Who will be my tour guide?

We have a number of tour guides, each one has an intimate knowledge of the area and Aboriginal culture.

What vehicle will we travel around in?

Ngurrangga Tours uses four wheel drive vehicles including Toyota Landcruises.

Will I need travel insurance?

We highly recommend you have appropriate travel and cancellation insurance. Our tours operate in remote regions and our travel and itineraries are subject to changing weather conditions, road closures and other unforeseen events that may impact on our journey. 

Do you cater for people with special needs?

The Pilbara is a large country with sometimes challenging conditions for driving and walking. This can make it difficult for with people with some specific needs, however we will adapt tours as much as possible for customers with specific needs.  Please contact us to discuss.

When is the best time to take a tour?

The main Pilbara touring season is in the Australian winter. In Australia’s North West we have a ‘wet season’ from around December through to March and sometimes a bit later, with occasional cyclones bringing heavy rain. It can also be hot during the summer months.  However we operate all year round and adapt tours to the conditions.

What should I bring on tour?

Wear comfortable clothes, walking shoes and a hat.  Make sure you put on sun screen, bring a bottle of water and don’t forget your camera!

Where do we meet?

Our main meeting locations are Karratha Visitor’s Centre; Njangarli Entrance at Murujuga National Park; the entrance to Hearson’s Cove and the Cossack Town Wharf.

Are the tours suitable for children?

Absolutely! We love having families on tour.

What happens if my tour is cancelled due to weather and road conditions?

We reserve the right to cancel or postpone any tour due to unforeseen circumstances, such as road conditions, flooding, mechanical defect, cultural considerations or other reason. In the event of tour cancellation, an alternative tour or full refund for that tour will be offered.
